Kalkan, one of the Mediterranean’s rare beauties, should sit at the top of your places to visit in Antalya list. A small coastal town attached to Kas, it draws visitors with its nature and a history that goes back a long way.
Places to stay can be tight because it is busy year-round. You can find a guesthouse, or if your budget allows, choose a rental villa.
The mix of history and nature. Hittites, Romans and Ottomans all lived here. Patara Beach, Buyuk Cakil, Kaputas, Limanagzi, coves, caves, the ancient city and turtle habitats fill a holiday. Boat trips reach clear coves.
Try local food too: olive-oil dishes, seafood, sage and mountain thyme.

Kalkan is west of Antalya, about 200 km away. If you fly, the nearest airport is in Mugla. From Istanbul the flight is about 1.5 hours to Dalaman, then on to Kalkan.
Book accommodation as soon as you decide; in summer it is hard to find a place near the sea.
Kalkan also ranks high among honeymoon places. A honeymoon villa instead of a hotel can make the trip unforgettable — reserve as soon as the wedding date is set.
Visit nearby Greek islands, join boat trips, and try paragliding or diving. The Aquarium cove is especially good for diving among many fish species.
