Antalya Ancient City Guide | Villacentam

Antalya is a jewel of the Mediterranean because nature and history sit together. Do not leave without seeing the ancient cities — they are an archaeological wealth that local and foreign visitors seek out.

Hotels come to mind first when you look for a bed. A rental villa is another easy option, in many parts of Antalya in summer and winter.

Ancient cities you should see

Lycians, Persians, Rome, the Ottomans and others left a deep heritage. Ancient cities are a large part of it.

Side Ancient City sits on a peninsula east of the gulf, in Manavgat. Side means pomegranate. Walls, gates, an aqueduct, colonnaded streets and more remain. Side Museum is in the Agora Baths.

Excavations in Aksu uncovered Perge, a rich Hellenistic city. Not all of it is excavated. Stadium, theatre, baths and a colonnaded street sit near the Aksu River.

Olympos, Syedra, Myra and its harbour Andriake are among the others.

Kalkan: a nest of ancient cities

This small town attached to Kas has untouched nature and many sites: Antiphellos, Xanthos, Patara, Phellos (Pirha) and Letoon. A Kalkan rental villa makes it easy to stay in the landscape.

An easier holiday in an Antalya villa

The province is large; each district is different. Newlyweds book hotels months ahead — or choose a honeymoon villa. If Kas hotels are full, a Kas rental villa still works. Pick the villa closest to the places you most want to see.
